Fundations

In Unit 4, we are reviewing the suffixes s, es, ed, and ing. Also, we are learning about the comparison suffixes of er and est.  The students are focusing on underlining the base or root word and circling the suffix.  Also, we continue to practice the vowel team sounds.

Inner Explorer

We have participated in 4 sessions of the new program, The Inner Explorer.  Each session is 6 to 8 minutes in length. So far, the children have practiced breathing, learning a hand motion to calm their bodies and mind (the shark) and have thought about how we all have the powers to make wise choices. The children have been very engaged in the sessions.

Acts Of Kindness

The children enjoyed reading and discussing Have You Filled Your Bucket Today with Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Parker. After, we all worked together to add our acts of kindness to the school rainbow of kindness.

Math Centers

We continue to learn about the similarities and differences of many 2-dimensionals shapes. We have used the geoboards and other manipulative to learn about vertices, sides and angles. The children are learning that a pentagon can be any shape with 5 sides and that there are many different quadrilaterals. Also, we have been solving word problems that are based on shapes.

For example:
 Jay drew two 2 dimensional shapes that had 8 angles in all. Show three different solutions to this problem.

Appleton Farms Field Trip

We had a wonderful time on our trip to the farm.  We participated in the program, Sunshine Made My Milk.  The program was well organized and engaging. The children had a great time exploring the beautiful grounds and meeting the cows.  I would highly recommend a family outing there! A great place to hike and learn.

A Night Out- Support The National Honor Society

Kids' Night Out

The Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School National Honor Society invites your kids to come play with them.  Activities offered will include: crafts, board games, organized games in the gym, story time, snacks* and a movie!

When: Friday, November 13, 2015

Time: 6:00 to 9:00 pm (check in starts no earlier than 5:45 pm)

Where: Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School 

Cost: $10 per child

(Checks should be made out to “HWRSD”)

Ages: K-5th grade

Each child must have a signed parent permission form (available at check-in) in order to participate in the evening. NHS members and their advisers will supervise all activities.
