 On Friday, we will be celebrating Global School Play Day by setting aside a chunk of our day for unstructured play.  Due to our All School Writing Celebration on 2/1 and some snow days, we will celebrate on 2/12. As a staff, we have been discussing the importance of play, joy and choice.

 CALL FOR TOYS Tell your class to bring anything they wish to play with to school on Friday  February 12th. The only restrictions: they must bring toys and these toys may NOT require batteries or electricity. No devices.  Here are some ideas: board games, dolls, Legos, blocks, trucks, cars, racetracks, playing cards, empty cardboard boxes, markers, jigsaw puzzles, blankets (for forts), social games (charades, Pictionary, etc.) The only exception on the electronics rule would be a board game that has an electronic timer, an electronics play kit, or similar.

Conflict Resolution 101 – A Conversation for Parents!

Conflict isn’t the jazziest topic to talk about and some of us wish we could avoid it all together!  Conflicts, disagreements, skirmishes however are a fact of life.  Come network with other parents and Dolly McIlvaine, Cutler School Counselor about how you can support your children in learning how to solve conflicts peacefully.  There will be a brief presentation followed by a discussion where we will share our thoughts about how to help our children become peaceful conflict managers.  This parent conversation will take place on Wednesday, February 24^th at 8:45am in the Cutler School dining hall.  Come with your own coffee and muffin and settle in with some good ole networking with other parents who are trying to help our children become confident and independent!
