In math,we have been focusing on word problems. The children are asked to solve problems with results unknown, change unknown and start unknown and to create a solution equation. A complete answer must have a equations, simple drawings and a sentences answering the question in the problem.
We have been working with partners to support the children's work around the following Standards of Mathematical Practice:
Make Sense of problems and persevere in solving them
"When given a problem, I can make a plan to solve it and check my answer"
Reason abstractly and quantitatively
"I can use numbers and words to help me make sense of problems"
Construct Viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others
"I can explain my thinking and consider the mathematical thinking of others"
